Spring (or almost spring!) is one of the best times of the year to visit our ski resorts in the White Mountains. With plenty of soft snow and celebratory events to mark the end of another ski season, March and April are looking mighty fine for some on-slope experiences.
ATTITASH MOUNTAIN RESORT (Bartlett, NH)
Every Saturday through April 2nd
If you’re a fan of the après ski scene, Saturdays at Attitash Mountain Resort are a must. Once your legs are officially tuckered, head to Ptarmigans and The Den for some rousing live music. Upcoming acts include Riley Parkhurst Project, Scott Baer, Shark Martin, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, and more.
CANNON MOUNTAIN (Franconia, NH)
Saturday, March 26th
Are you ready to kick it old school? Cannon Mountain’s spring events commence with their epic 80’s Day & The Old School Duel, where you can compete for “Best Dressed” in your throwback attire. Join in the deck dance party (minus those ski boots if you want to stay nimble), witness one heck of a Duel Hotdoggin’ contest, and jam out to ‘80s cover band Fast Times in the Cannonball Pub. What a way to close out the month!
Saturday, April 2nd
It’s BodeFest! For those in the know, this is one of Cannon Mountain’s most iconic events. Show your support for local adaptive and youth ski programs, and seize your chance to meet World Champion/Olympic medalist/local legend Bode Miller. This is a fun family-friendly event, so get those kiddos ready for a day like none other in New Hampshire.
Saturday, April 9th
Here’s another classic mountain event: Cannon’s Blizzard Splash Pond. Put on those skis, build up that speed, and see if you can make it across the pond. The winner gets to take home a pair of Blizzard Skis!
Every Saturday through April 9th
Expect après at the Cannonball Pub every Saturday for the next few weeks, including live music and local brews.
CRANMORE MOUNTAIN RESORT (North Conway, NH)
Saturday, March 26th
Slide into a new month with Cranmore Mountain Resort’s rousing Spring Splash! This FREE event for lift ticket or season pass holders is the perfect way to cap off a season of serious skiing and boarding. Compete in categories like “Best Skim”, “Best Splash”, and “Best Costume”, and take home a prize if you’re the best of the best.
Registration starts at 10am. The splashes start soon after!
LOON MOUNTAIN RESORT (Lincoln, NH)
Saturday, March 19th
Head to Little Sister Park at Loon Mountain Resort for the Red Bull Railer Coaster, a speedy, exciting event where riders’ bank slalom/boardercross skills are on full display. Technical rail and park features mixed in along the course give riders the chance to score major style points. Registration is $20, but the chance of victory is well worth the fee.
Also? The Governor Adams Cup Race will be running that very same day! Proceeds from the race go directly towards a scholarship fund to financially assist local young people in their winter sports aspirations.
Friday, March 25th - Monday, March 28th
This event is so wow-worthy, it extends past the weekend on both ends. Oakley Weekend is about all things Oakley, including equipment displays, giveaways, and events. Get your gear list together for next year, and then wrap it all up by attending Last Call, an ultra-inspiring snowboarding competition that has been running for two decades at Loon.
Saturday, April 2nd
Bring on those ‘80s threads! It’s time for ‘80s Day, an all-day, all-mountain throwback party complete with live music from tribute band Rubix Kube and plenty of runs to celebrate some of the best skiing of the season.
Saturday, April 9th
The season is almost done, but there’s still time for Loon’s Slushpool Party! Secure your spot near the Governor Adams Lodge area to see skiers and riders set aside their spring snow runs for some heart-pounding pond skimming.
Event check-in starts at 10am, and the skimming starts at 12pm sharp.
WILDCAT MOUNTAIN (Gorham, NH)
Every Friday and Saturday through end of season
Are you ready for après? Wildcat Mountain rounds out the tail end of its season with live music every Friday and Saturday in the Wildcat Base Lodge.
BRETTON WOODS SKI AREA (Bretton Woods, NH)
Sunday, March 27th
As a big thank you to its most devoted skiers, Bretton Woods Ski Area is throwing a Season Passholders’ Appreciation Day! Head to the Slopeside level of the base lodge for a cookout-style feast from 11:30am – 1:30pm. Everything is complementary for 2021-22 Bretton Woods Season Passholders, but a la carte pricing is available for hungry skiers without a season pass.
GUNSTOCK MOUNTAIN RESORT (Gilford, NH)
Thursday, March 17th
If you think you might have the luck of the Irish, prove it: get into the spirit with Shamrock Shenanigans, and see if you can find the hidden shamrocks throughout Gunstock Mountain Resort . All shamrock finders receive a prize, but expect major bonus points (plus something a little extra!) for snagging the elusive Golden Shamrock.
Friday, March 18th – Sunday, March 20th
Ready to watch a race? The Francis Piche Invitational race honors local skier, racer, and coach Francis Piche, and is quite the pulse-pounding way to spend a weekend.
Saturday, April 2nd
After a two-year break, Gunstock’s Pond Skim is back! Details for this exciting event are available on Gunstock’s website.
Post-adventure, don’t forget to check out some of the best spots in the White Mountains for après ski. There are only a few glorious weekends left – let’s make the best of them!
